About the Service
The Handymen Service is provided by Wiltshire Rural Housing Association, a not-for-profit organisation, in line with our commitment and promises to all our tenants.
How many times have you thought you could do with an extra person or another pair of hands to do that needed job around the house or garden?
It can be difficult and expensive to call out someone you don’t know, especially for those smaller jobs.
WRHA’s Handymen Service is here to help you carry out those jobs with complete peace of mind that you will get a good job done at a fair price by a fully trustworthy operative. We give you our assurance to feel completely at ease using this service.
Who is the Service for?
The service is available to all our tenants.
What sort of work can be done?
- Door and window repairs and adjustments that are your responsibility.
- All types of carpentry work.
- Wall and floor tiling.
- Minor plumbing work.
- Blocked drains that are your responsibility.
- Minor electrical work.
- Fitting of electric showers.
- Gates, fences and walls that are your responsibility.
- Additional draught proofing.
- Painting, decorating and plaster work.
- Shelving and cupboard fitment.
- Gardens and decking.
- Sheds and garden structures.
- Disabled ramps.
Are there any jobs that cannot be undertaken by this service?
No gas work can be undertaken or any work that is to any part of the heating and hot water system. The only exception is the fitting of an electric shower.
No major electrical or plumbing work will be possible using this service without specific permission.
No work can be done that will structurally alter the house in any way. There could be a few limited jobs where we may grant permission first to, for example, remove or block up an internal doorway.
The Handymen will not carry out any works that would be part of our normal maintenance service.
No work will be allowed in the loft or roof space.
Who carries out the work and are there any charges for the service?
BERNIE SKINNER is the Handymen for the service and comes fully assured by WRHA and has more than 15 years of experience in service provision to social housing clients. He will give you peace of mind at all times during the provision of this service and carry full public liability insurance.
The charge for the service is £19.50 per hour, with two hours being the minimum charge. For larger jobs he is happy to provide you with a written quotation. Any materials used will be charged at cost or with an agreed modest uplift. Some travel time may apply.
Payment will be directly to him upon completion of the job and he will stand behind his workmanship.
